The way of escape.
That’s exactly what prayer and the presence of the LORD is for us!
It’s the escape from worry and anxiety. The escape from fear and pain. The escape from shame and guilt. The escape from feelings of inadequacy and defeat. The escape from being overwhelmed.
It’s the escape from life’s busyness and the demands of the day.
When there’s chaos all around me, and I’m in need of a little more peace, I can run to His presence. When I’m feeling uncertain and in need of assurance, I can run to His presence. When I’m struggling to overcome, I can run to His presence. When I’m struggling to balance the demands of being a wife and a mom, I can run to His presence.
In His presence I find refuge. I find safety.
I often think about all those times when I needed to escape the most, but instead of running to the way, I decided to run to something that would only allow me to escape temporarily. Like that time when I felt everything but love for myself, but instead of running to the way, I ran to lust. Or that time when I was filled with anxiety and depression, but instead of running to the way, I ran to self destructive behaviors.
I think about how I could have overcame what I thought was impossible to overcome if I would’ve just ran to the way. The way that pointed me in the direction of strength when I felt weak. The way that pointed me in the direction of truth when the enemy’s lies tried to take over my mind. The way that pointed me in the direction of healing and restoration when I felt the most broken. The way that whispered..”I love you”, when I felt unworthy and the most unloved.
I think about how a perfect, loving God could offer Himself to me in my most fragile moments. I think about how He could love me enough to not only save me, but to make Himself available to me! Daily He calls me into His presence to love me, comfort me, and lead me.
I don’t know where you find yourself today but I want to remind you that your GOD has provided the way of escape. Run to peace. Run to joy. Run to safety. Run into His presence.
